Aegis regularly litigates in the courts of the District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland, New York, California, Delaware, Illinois, Florida, and Texas, and has assisted clients in litigation and arbitrations pending in over dozen additional states.


Since its founding in 2003, Aegis has represented its clients in a wide array of matters throughout the United States, including:


  • Defending The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, LLC in a series of cases filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia arising out of a large-scale development project in Loudoun County, Virginia. Obtained summary judgment in favor of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company on all counts.

  • Successfully prosecuting cases in U.S. District Courts throughout the country to enforce Merrill Lynch & Co.’s trademark rights in connection with its famous bull logo.

  • Representing a prominent District of Columbia private equity firm in a complex set of interrelated cases in D.C. Superior Court with claims exceeding $20 million.

  • Successfully defending Marriott International, Inc. in a series of asbestos cases filed in Madison County, Illinois and in other jurisdictions throughout the country.

  • Serving as plaintiff’s counsel for a publicly-traded company in an $80 million commercial fraud case, resulting in an eight-figure settlement to the client.

  • Defeating the U.S. Department of Justice in a commercial real estate case tried in Federal court in 2014.

  • Prevailing at trial before the D.C. Contract Appeals Board on behalf of a District of Columbia managed care organization.

  • Prevailing at trial in D.C. Superior Court in a 2010 case arising out of a commercial real estate transaction; successfully defended judgment on appeal.

  • Prevailing at trial in Fairfax County Circuit Court in representation of a government contractor wrongfully alleged to have misappropriated trade secrets and to have committed various commercial torts; plaintiff recovered nothing.

  • Successfully prosecuting a series of cases in Virginia courts on behalf of a publicly-traded technology company to protect the company’s intellectual property and trade secrets.

  • Along with co-counsel O’Melveny & Myers, LLP, and Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr., defending Marriott International, Inc. in widely-reported commercial litigation in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

  • Prevailing in jury trial in Maryland state court on behalf of plaintiff defrauded in real estate transaction; jury award included punitive damages.

  • Defending Marriott International, Inc. in commercial arbitration before the International Centre for Dispute Resolution arising out of a large hotel project in Latin America.

  • Serving as lead plaintiff’s counsel in a series of cases filed in Federal and State courts of Maryland arising out of theft of investment funds; favorable global settlement obtained.

  • Representing a London-based commercial intelligence firm in a series of contested arbitration hearings in New York City and in Washington, D.C.

  • Representing a D.C.-area biotech company in a statutory wage and hours claim.
